Overview

PromptSpark is a Chrome extension that helps users capture, organize, rank, and improve their AI prompts. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how PromptSpark handles your data.

Data Collection & Storage

PromptSpark does not collect, track, or harvest any user data. We do not have servers and we do not see your prompts.

All core data — including saved prompts, rankings, folders, insights, community bookmarks, and custom templates — is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. No data ever leaves your browser unless you explicitly enable optional AI features.

What Data is Stored Locally

• Prompts you type into supported AI chatbot sites (captured only on sites you visit)
• AI rankings, categories, and improvement suggestions (generated locally)
• Folder names and organization preferences
• Notification and reminder settings

This data is never transmitted to any external server, API, or third-party service.

AI Processing & Optional Third-Party APIs

By default, all AI analysis (prompt heuristic ranking, categorization, metrics) runs entirely within your browser using local JavaScript algorithms. No external networks are contacted.

Optional LLM Integration: PromptSpark "Elite" (v3.0.x) includes an optional feature to automatically improve prompts using external Large Language Models (LLMs).

• If you choose to enter your own API key (e.g., OpenAI or Google Gemini) in the Settings tab, your prompt text will be transmitted directly to that provider's official API to generate an improved rewrite.
• Your API keys are stored strictly locally on your device via chrome.storage.local. They are never transmitted to PromptSpark creators.
• Please refer to the respective privacy policies of OpenAI or Google regarding how they handle data sent securely via API.

• activeTab — To detect AI chatbot sites for prompt capture
• contextMenus — To add a "Save to PromptSpark" right-click option
• scripting — To allow prompt capture and local improvement context menus
• declarativeNetRequest — To enable the private Prompt Academy video embeds
• Host permissions — To run content scripts on supported AI chatbot sites only

Academy & Mastery Certifications

The PromptSpark Academy uses YouTube embeds to provide educational content. We use the declarativeNetRequest API to bypass tracker-heavy headers, ensuring the video displays cleanly within your dashboard while adhering to high privacy standards. No data from your Academy progress is shared with third parties.

Certificates are generated locally on a 2D canvas and are never saved to any server. In PromptSpark v3.0.2, all resources are packaged locally; this ensures that no remotely hosted code ever enters your browser environment, satisfying strict Manifest V3 security requirements.

Third-Party Services

PromptSpark does not use any third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising frameworks. No cookies are set. Other than optional user-configured API calls (OpenAI/Gemini), no external services are utilized.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, transfer, or share any user data with any third party for any purpose.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's extension storage. No data persists after uninstallation.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
